Global Deal for Irish Boxing Film 'Swing Bout'
In a significant worldwide deal, Los Angeles-based distributor Indie Rights has secured all rights, excluding the U.K. and Ireland, for the Irish crime thriller 'Swing Bout'. This film, directed and written by Maurice O'Carroll, takes place in the intense world of women's boxing. The film stars Ciara Berkeley as Tony, an up-and-coming fighter gearing up for the biggest match of her career. The narrative unfolds in real-time, starting from the dressing room and ending with her ring walk, as Tony navigates a night filled with deceit, betrayal, and life-altering decisions.
The deal, negotiated between Indie Rights and Orion Productions, the Irish production company founded and managed by Swing Bout producer Sinéad O'Riordan, encompasses TVOD, SVOD, AVOD, and home entertainment rights. Linda Nelson, CEO of Indie Rights, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the film's gripping and well-crafted nature with strong international potential.
Maurice O'Carroll shared his delight in collaborating with Indie Rights for the global launch of the film, praising the company's commitment to independent filmmakers. He believes this partnership will ensure the film reaches its international audience.
'Swing Bout' made its debut at the Dublin Film Festival in 2024 and later premiered internationally at Germany's Oldenburg Film Festival, which is gaining recognition as a platform for indie Irish cinema. Indie Rights plans a strategic digital release for early 2026, while Orion retains all digital rights for the U.K. and Ireland, where the film had a successful 4-week indie cinema run.
