But here's where it gets controversial... some might argue that the changes are long overdue. The Animation Courtyard, which will soon become the Walt Disney Studios Courtyard, has been a beloved part of the park since its opening in 1989. Back then, guests had the unique opportunity to tour active production studios, witnessing the creation of classics like Lilo & Stitch. It later evolved into the Magic of Disney Animation, offering an immersive look at the animation process. However, in 2015, Star Wars Launch Bay took over, and now, it's time for a new chapter.
Construction is well underway, with concrete forms taking shape near the center. The Disney Jr. building, which will house the highly anticipated Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!, has fresh concrete walkways being poured. A temporary tent nearby hints at the ongoing work. The center courtyard, once a bustling hub, is now a canvas for transformation, with dirt work and forms preparing the way for a beautiful garden area with shaded seating.
