One of the standout updates includes a complete flooring overhaul. And this is the part most people miss—the mall isn’t just picking any flooring; they’re rigorously testing different options to ensure durability, aesthetics, and functionality in a high-traffic environment. Huebner explained, ‘We’re experimenting with various materials to find the perfect fit. While we can’t reveal everything just yet, we’re committed to making significant improvements over the next few months.’
Here’s where it gets controversial—in an era of online shopping, some might question the value of investing in physical retail spaces. But Huebner and the mall’s owner, Cafaro, are confident these upgrades will breathe new life into the Grand Central Mall. ‘Cafaro is incredibly enthusiastic about these changes,’ Huebner added. ‘They see this as an opportunity to not only modernize the mall but also to strengthen its role as a community hub.’
